Group work
When I was planning a presentation I found that working in a
group was more productive and more effective for me than solo work would
have. This was not always the case in the beginning
but over time I learnt that I could do more things in a group than I could have
done on my own. The reasons why working
with other people is more effective for me is due to the combination of these
factors below.
The first factor that I think helps me more is that in a
group you get several different opinions.
The bigger the number of people you have in your group the more opinions
you will have meaning that at the start of the project you will have several ideas
on what the topic of the work will be (if optional) how it will be presented to
the audience and at the end see if there is anything that they would add or
remove (and then put it to a vote with the rest of the group). The second reason why I find that group work
is important is because they can check over the other group members work to see
if there are any spelling errors, grammar errors or other mistakes. The reason why so shouldn't consider this as
“splitting hairs” is because they could have seen a fault that you didn't see
due to either you rushing to meet a deadline or you working late so having
someone else who isn't stressed check over your work does provide not only what
you have done wrong but also what you can possibly improve on getting you a
better grade. The last reason why I find
working in a group is effective is because you can get support from the other
members of your group. The reason why
this is important is because if one member is nervous about presenting the
completed work then you can give them a lift by helping them practice with
their role before the due date, or you can show them how you might do it and
show them how to make it seem that you aren't afraid or intimidated of being in
front of an audience.
Q and A
During a presentation in front of an audience I often found
that the task required me to include a Q and A section, at first I thought that
this meant more tedious work for me but after a while I realized that a Q and A
section of a presentation can actually be beneficial for me and that it could
help me get my grade just a little bit higher and these are the reasons why I
believe so.
The first reason why I think that a Q and A section within a
presentation is beneficial is because it extends the time of the presentation. The reason why this is important is because
if you are a nervous person who also happens to be shy (like myself) then
taking a bit more time helps you if you start to rush your presentation due to
you getting nervous. Another reason why
it is important is because it helps you catch a breath if you were rushing and
helps you calm down. The way that this
little break helps someone is because if they did fall to panic then taking any
break is important and if they mispronounced any section of the presentation
then the audience tell the presenter that they didn't understand a specific
section and would ask what he meant. The
last reason why I find that having a Q and A section in a presentation is
important is because it can give more information to the audience that you
hadn't given them or give them some points that you missed.
Presentation
As I have said before in the Q and A section I mentioned
that I have used a presentation however when I first started using them I
didn't like them due to my shy nature but after many confidence boosting years I
have managed to overcome my nerves and so I realized that a presentation can
help me and I will show how they can help you to.
My first reason why I think that presentations can be useful
is because they are in my opinion a lot easier to do over the alternative. The reason why I say this is because the
alternative for me is to wright a long essay and with my lack of patience,
spelling and grammar skills I am horrible at righting (and typing for long time
periods) so people like as me will find that speaking in front of an audience
is easier than righting or typing. The
second and last reason why a presentation is effective in my opinion is because
you improve your communication skills in the process. The reason why you get better at speaking
when you do a presentation is because before you present to the audience you
should (and most people do) practice their speech before hand in front of a
smaller audience of people they know so that they can get tips on not only the
content of the speech but also how they speak during the speech.
